Orato graduated from Mwangaza Art School in 1998. He is captivated by the beauty and the intensity of light in Kisumu. Edward often depicts the daily activities from the lake region and occasionally explores the fantasy of abstraction to express his inner thoughts and/or feelings.Â
Some notable characters in his works are lines, the colour blue and the iconic, ever-present mother. He is experimental in his art: he works with kangas (left over fabrics), discarded CDs, sisal, hyacinth papers, magazines, polythene stickers… whatever he comes across.
Orato has participated in numerous Art shows in Kenya, and also carried out an Art project at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi called the Savannah Grass land painting. He also gives private Art Classes both for kids and adults.
